10-20 million years ago the 12 Apostles were part of the main land, Australia. Wind and water eroded away the lime stone cliffs into caves, until the back of the caves colapsed that turned the caves into arches. The arches colapsed. It created 12 isolated sea stacks.

Since the discovery of the Apostles, 5 of them have fallen leaving 7 left. The 5 Apostles that have fallen, have been forced to fall by the salty water beating up against them, eroding them away. On July the third, 2005 at 9:18 am one of the 12 Apostles had fallen leaving people shocked, one of the tour guides said" It's pretty unbelievable."
